About me

  • My name is Alice and I live in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, with my husband Paul and son Leo, who was born in June 2010.
  • I trained as a journalist the old-fashioned, working my way up through local newspapers and magazines as reporter and editor before going freelance.
  • Since becoming a mum, I have specialised in writing about babies, with my work appearing in various parenting publications, including The Green Parent magazine, Take a Break magazine and the national parenting websites Emma's Diary and thebabywebsite.com among others.
  • Although writing is my passion, the violin was my first love. Before going into the media, I studied at music college and now keep my hand in playing in a fun and friendly string quartet (The Minster String Quartet) and a nearby music society. He doesn’t know it yet, but the little man’s violin lessons are already paid up.
  • I am constantly heartened by the warmth and camaraderie I have found among fellow mums (and dads) and one of the aims of my blog is to recreate this kind of support and reassurance for other new parents out there, as well as pass on any top tips I learn along the way.
